MES Communicates with families and community through a variety of platforms
Digital Dolphin Weekly Newsletter
The Digital Dolphin is our email newsletter sent on Thursdays when school is in session to parents and staff at Morningside Elementary School. All families' emails are included in the distribution weekly using the email address provided at registration. The Digital Dolphin is edited and distributed by the PTA. For submissions to the Digital Dolphin, please fill out the MES Communications Submission Request form.
MES Dolphin Community Private Facebook Group
https://www.facebook.com/groups/MESDolphinCommunity
This is a private Facebook group for MES parents that is run by the MES PTA. PTA Executive Board members and Committee Chairs regularly use the group to share reminders and highlight upcoming events and opportunities for volunteers. This group is also great for getting answers to any questions you have directly from your fellow MES parents. Please note that everyone in the group must have active accounts in our PTA Directory on Membership Toolkit. Rising K parents are invited to join each year in late July!
Morningside Elementary School Public Facebook Page

MES also has a public-facing Facebook page where we will be sharing more frequently about
upcoming events for the 2023-2024 school year. No need to join anything - just click follow!

- MAP (K-5) and AMIRA (K-3) reports will be sent home in Wednesday folders in sealed envelopes.
Speaking of MAP…
Our Dolphins brought the heat for the Winter MAP assessment and I couldn't be prouder!!!
MATH and READING MAP: Fall to Winter MAP shows positive movement in proficiency across all grade levels. In BOTH Math and Reading!! In fact, when looking at the performance of grades 2-5 overall, MES is #1 in the district for these 4 grade levels!!! This is a HUGE accomplishment and is a testament to the incredible staff that pours into our Dolphins daily, and of course to the incredible "show what you know" mindset of our Dolphins. GO MES! #AllDolphinsIn!
- We are noticing an uptick again of students being dropped off on East Rock Springs Road in the mornings. As always, please use the car line only for dropping Dolphins off in the mornings!!!
- Upcoming Principal Caffeine Connection - Wednesday 1/21/26. We will look at some MAP data and
- Lastly, if you are a Netflix series fan (or not), a staff member alerted me this weekend to a super fun clip in Episode 2 of the new series His&Hers which is set in Atlanta and Dahlonega. I won't give it away here, but if you want a sneak peak, slide into Episode 2 at around 27 minutes and watch. (I highly recommend watching from the beginning of the series though - you'll be hooked!). NOTE: This is an adult show - there are adult themes and language throughout.
Until Next Time...
Warmly,
Brian Baron
MES Families,
I want to share the gratefulness in my heart for our students and community and the multiple levels of support that is provided to us at MES each and every day. Wearing the hat of an educator (which is every staff member in this building) is a life long choice, and I am so thankful that you place your trust in us to provide your Dolphins an experience each day that they remember as their foundation of the love of the learning process.
I wish you and your families light, love, and the warmth of community as we enter into 2026.
Until 2026...
Warmly,
Brian Baron
ood afternoon! A quick message to update you on this week's Tea With Our AP. The format for this session has changed. This session will NOT be an in person session. We will be piloting a new format to provide better access for all to our engagement series in the form of an on demand library. Please stay tuned for more details and how and when this session will be able to be accessed. Thank you!
I hope the Thanksgiving Week treated everyone to at least a bit of needed down time!
Quick blog today:
1) The newly forming Morningside Math League parent interest meeting is RESCHEDULED to Monday evening (12/8/25) at 7PM. Zoom link will again be in this week's Digital Dolphin. (link did not change from the 11/21 link provided in the DD).
2) Great fun today being painted by every Dolphin at MES on the basketball court. Pics will be posted on Facebook at some point soon. :)
3) Please take a few minutes to fill out the APS Family Engagement Survey. This survey provides us with some important data regarding how we can better reach our families! Survey can be accessed here: tinyurl.com/APSFamilySurvey
4) As best as we can, we want to see all of our Dolphins present at school between now through (and including) Friday, December 19th! Thank you so much!!!

- GRATEFULNESS
I want to take a moment to share my 2025 reflections of thanks with you all as we enter the Thanksgiving holiday week. I literally wake up grateful each day to have been given the charge of leading this incredible school community at Morningside. It is our entire community that energizes me in this work, and our Dolphins are at the absolute forefront. The smiles that our kids bring each morning, the funny things they do each day, the incredible levels of learning, growth, and curiosity that fill the classrooms through our unmatched staff - these are my why. We are a community of believers in the power of public elementary education, and with this mindset, we can do anything. I am beyond grateful that you entrust us to shape the minds of your most valued littles through dedication, kindness and love. I wish you all a safe and restful week filled with family, friends, and grateful presence.
Until Next Time...
Warmly,
Brian Baron
